When I first heard "Zoom" by The Starlighters years ago, I thought it was one of the most hard-rockin' doo-wop tunes ever released. Could there be more out there? Let's see...
20 tracks in all. From 1954 to '64. Favs include The Five Crowns' "Popcorn Willie" and The Champions' "The Same Old Story." Other goodies with The Searchers' "Ooo-Wee," The Jesters' "Sally Green," and The Peacheroos' "Be Bop Baby." They're all good. Enjoy!
Note: I really wanted to add Zoom, but cannot find a good file online with a clean rip. The one I have is 167kbps (an old, ripped from some long-gone program), but the source is rough. You can still hear the track on youtube here -> "Zoom" by The Starlighters (btw, I still think Zoom is the heaviest doo-wop track).
Thanks
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome!
DeleteJust found your blog & I'll check out a few of your compilations! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! Enjoy!
DeleteThanks a lot! Doo-Wop Forever!

You're welcome Chi-Town! Yes indeed, doo-wop forever!
DeleteHopefully you will do more doo-wop compilations in the future, George. Nice blog by the way....just discovered it.
DeleteThank you again Chi-Town for compliment. Much appreciate it. I will make more doo-wop mixes in the future. Oh, and if you run into one of my older posts that doesn't have the file uploaded on Proton, I'd recommend to wait until I get around to revising it. I'll eventually have everything hosted with Proton, with proper rips (some of the older tracks are in lower quality), better tags, etc.
DeleteThanks for the info, George. I'll be looking forward to some more doo-wop in the future. Proton worked A-OK here in Opera but not my downloading program (JDownloader2).
DeleteYou're welcome Chi-Town. That's too bad about JDL2. Proton is a great host, and wish I used them to begin with.
DeleteChi-Town - I found this online. Perhaps look into this (copied and paste) -
DeleteI saw a post somewhere on Reddit (can’t find it now) about problems with downloading (sharing) files via Protondrive. I had the same problem and found having the recipient clear their cache and cookies resolved the issues I was running into. I hope this helps the person that posted.
Thanks for the info George. Many sites that I download from have lots of ads, etc. Many also redirect you to nefarious/porn sites or have pop ups/pop unders, etc. When I can use JD2 all of those problems disappear. However, I had no problems with Proton. I've never seen Proton before so I learned something new LOL.
DeleteThat's good Chi-Town. I've read great things about JD2 but I rarely dl big files, albums, etc. And if I do, I only need the one and not several. As for pop-ups, ads, & crap, I've used ublock origins for years. It's also great for youtube to stop those annoying ads, lol.
DeleteI also use Ublock but find that it is not perfect. It is close to being perfect but still lets some undesirable stuff get through sometimes. I am a power uploader/downloader so JD2 is quite desirable for me. By the way, I downloaded "Rockin' Rollin' Doo-Wop 3 - Tick Tock A-Woo!" and had no problems with Proton in Opera. Proton was extremely fast.
