Snazzy Jazzy Christmas Jazz You've Never Heard! Vol. IV

The first three volumes are (probably) my favorite Christmas mixes -

"Snazzy Jazzy Christmas Jazz You've Never Heard!" >> Here

"Snazzy Jazzy Christmas Jazz You've Never Heard! Vol. II" >> Here

"Snazzy Jazzy Christmas Jazz You've Never Heard! Vol. III" >> Here

Continuing on with volume 4, all 00s sans 93's bluesy "Hootie's Christmas Baby" by Jay McShann. It's also the only track with vocals. As for the other 15 tracks, a couple of funky jazzers in Cliff deMarks' "Linus and Lucy" and Mac Magee's "Little Drummer Boy." Also, nice fret work and cool drum breaks in Christmas Tree-O's "Deck the Halls," Simon Brothers' "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas," and Event Horizon Jazz's "Jingle Bells." And can't forget Ray Vidal's jazzy chill-hop in "Snow Day." They're all good. Enjoy! And have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Nostalgic Christmas 2025: The 40s & 50s

From 1941 to '59 to be exact. Many gems you don't hear at the mall, the radio, etc. Patti Page's "Jingle Bells" is the '51 version, and not the familiar '55 release. The difference is quite noticeable. The '51 version is a jazzy, swingin' orchestra standard, that sounds like it was recorded for a tv special, or maybe in film. It could also be an alternate take or simply the original. Les Brown's "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm" is noted as '46 but other sources say otherwise. Regardless, both tracks are well worth a listen or three.

18 tracks in all including The Andrews Sisters, Owen Bradley and His Quintet, Frankie Laine, Peggy Lee, Margaret Whiting & Jimmy Wakely, Enoch Light and His Orchestra, The Beverley Sisters, Doris Day, and more. If I don't have another mix before the 25th... Be safe and have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Groovy Retro Family Christmas 2024 [1950-69]

For all you with family, young and old, a retro mix of a lot of unheard/underplayed Christmas tunes. Several tunes not only aimed at the kiddies, but the kid inside us. I still listen to every track, all twenty of 'em. Ooops, I meant nineteen of the twenty. I've never heard Barry Richards' "Baby Sittin' Santa" until just the other day, lol. Let's see what we got here...

Ricky Zahnd and The Blue Jeaners' "Something Barked on Christmas Morning" should have been a Christmas classic. The Royal Guardsmen's "The Return of the Red Baron" - the one they don't play, at least when I'm listening to the radio, or shopping at the mall. Billy May's "Do You Believe in Santa Claus? (feat. Thurl Ravenscroft)" - yeah, the singer dude is also Tony the Tiger, and the voice behind "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch."

Peter Wood Singers and Orchestra's "Winter Wonderland" goes back before blogs really took off (2003). I no longer recall who, where, and when (I'm guessing one of those groups like y*h** or maybe a peer 2 peer thingy, I really don't recall), but someone shared this track (probably no more than 128 kbps and full of snap, crackle & pop) and it's been in my Christmas playlist almost every year since.

Little Rita Faye's "I Fell Out of a Christmas Tree" is cute, and so is Lawrence Welk's Little Band's "Outer Space Santa." Art Carney's "Santa and the Doodle-Li-Boop" is simply awesome. There's also a bit of family humor, including Allan Sherman's "The Twelve Gifts of Christmas." Enjoy, and Merry Christmas!

Awesome Downtime 15: 'Tis the Christmas Season

It's a Downtime Christmas Special! I absolutely love this mix. What are my favorites? The biggest standouts are Vic's remix of "Winter Wonderland," nPc's lo-fi remix of "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," and Monte La Rue's "I Saw Santa Kissing Mommy (A Time for Lovin')." The bass riff/runs in the latter are similar or possibly sampled from the replay background music in Pilotwings 64, the video game. Regardless, I absolutely, positively LOVE IT! Enough of the chit-chat... Enjoy!
