16 tracks (1966-70) full of super & sunshine pop! Sun Dragon's "Peacock Dress" is a big, big fav of mine. Street Corner Society's "Summer Days, Summer Nights" is another fav. Saturday morning stars the Groovie Goolies with my fav "We Go So Good Together." The Bugaloos, another from Saturday morning, with "It's New to You." 49th Parallel's "She Says" is another fav. They're all good. Enjoy!

Summer Beats on the Beach 3: Slow Dancin'
16 super awesome slow dancin' tracks, from 1966-72. All favs, but my super favs are both renditions of "(Let's Take A) Holiday" by The Honeys, and Dick & Dee Dee. The latter is titled "The Escape Suite," but still the same tune. The Sands of Time's "Where Did We Go Wrong" is a big, big fav. The New Lime's take on Ritchie Valens' "Donna" is a worthy cover. Strawberry Children's "Love Years Coming" is another big fav. White Plains' "I Can't Stop" is another. They're all good. Enjoy!
Drive Baby Drive, Vol. 3: On the Road!
16 more tracks for the road. Max Webster's "On the Road" is undoubtedly my favorite in the mix. Gordon Lightfoot's "Carefree Highway" is a well known track and still a goodie. Albatross do a great cover of "Tobacco Road." Cry of Love's "Highway Jones" and The Pharaohs' "Freedom Road" are a couple of more favs. They're all good. Enjoy!

Rare Gems from the Gravel Pit 2: 1966
16 short 'n' sweet garage rock tracks from '66. Favs? "Uh-Uh-Uh" by Canadian Squires. Written by Robbie Robertson (The Band). The Canadian Squires was an alias of Levon and The Hawks (pre-The Band). The Fifth Order's "Walkin' Away" is another fav. State of Mind's "Move" would be another one right up there, along with The Young Enterprise's "Think I'm Gonna Make It." They're all good. Enjoy!
NOTE: Track 3 (Canadian Squires - Uh-Uh-Uh) is from '65. Track 14 (The Split Ends - Rich with Nothin') may have been released in '67.

Summer Beats on the Beach 2: Instrumentals!
Continuing on with the summer beats, this time all instrumentals with a few shouts here and there. All 60s tracks sans the last track (The Bar-Kays' "Memphis Sunrise") from '72. My favs? Well, that's easy. The Young Disciples Co.'s "Bang Bang Bang." Soooo good. The Roulettes' "Jackpot" is another fav. The 4 Instants' "All About My Girl" and Johnny Jenkins' "Bashful Guitar" are a couple of others. There's plenty of organ in the mix too. 16 tracks, and all good. Enjoy!

Summer Beats on the Beach 1
I can't wait for the summer to arrive. Our winters overstay their welcome. I do love the bliss of the four seasons but winter I tell ya, it just lingers on like bad body odor. Anyway, I've had this idea and title for the next series for about a year now. And what better time to get those hot, burning radiated rays ready for the beach, or the backyard (I'm all for the latter) for summer compilations!
The majority of the 16 tracks I associate with the summer, or a summery spring day. As for the others - they got a beat, and a good beat for the beach. Big favorites in Steve Forbert's "Romeo's Tune." That tune takes me back to the jukebox at an old video/arcade shop once upon many, many years ago. Bill Amesbury's "Virginia (Touch Me Like You Do)" is another goodie. I've always loved First Class' "Beach Baby" and this time, the full album version. Dean Parrish's "Watch Out!" is another fav. They're all good. Enjoy!

Rare Gems from the Gravel Pit 1: 1967
Prologue: I was going to write a song and dance about the selection process but decided to just let the music do the talking. Of course, a personal anecdote would be pleasing, imo. As a matter of fact, I should be gnawing away on my left foot because quips/narratives are one of the important requisites I search for in blogs, et al. And yet, why don't I do the same?!? I don't have an excuse. Perhaps there are only a few of us that still long for a personal exemplum to widen our scope of notions to the timbres from the music. I don't know. And here I am writing a song and dance...
In this series (RGFRGP), not all will be garage-rockers. Big favs you've asked? The Tiffany Shade's "Would You Take My Mind Out for a Walk" for one. The Candymen's "Movies in My Mind" is another big fav. Eyes of Blue's "Supermarket Full of Cans" and the Societie's "Breaking Down" are a couple of more. They're all good. Enjoy!

Progressive Rock: The Rockers and The Groovers
Progressive rock that grooves is something I can definitely get down with. Yes' "Have We Really Got to Go Through This" is a big fav. And so is Can's "Soul Desert." The Giant Hogweed Orchestra's "Halogen" and Manfred Mann's Earth Band's "Countdown" are a couple of other favs. They're all good. Enjoy!

Drive Baby Drive, Vol. 2: Sundry 90s Gems Please!
I haven't heard several of the tracks since, well, the nineties! Many great tunes amongst the sixteen tracks. It's good to hear them once again.
The Gravelberrys "Wonder Where You Are Tonight" - from Toronto (Canada) lead by Paul Myers, older brother to Mike Myers (actor). Awesome tune with a play on lyrics similar to Paul Westerberg. Cornershop's "Wog" - when I first played this to my kids, they thought the backing vocalists were singing "Osh Kosh." They got the idea from a poster we have of a couple of kids wearing Osh Kosh boots. I really have no idea what those two words they're singing (a few lyric sites were no help either), and so I continue hearing Osh Kosh. LOVE that memory.
I Mother Earth's "Gargantua" is probably my fav from the band. Local H's "Bound for the Floor" - excellent rocker. They're all good. Enjoy!

Drive Baby Drive, Vol. 1: An Hour of Motorik!
You gotta love Motorik-driven tunes. And what is Motorik you ask? A good to-the-point explanation from the www... The motorik beat is a distinctive rhythmic pattern characterized by a steady, propulsive pulse and a strict adherence to a consistent tempo.
10 tracks. An hour's worth. My fav is probably Trigona's "Von Graf." Dhidalah's "Neuer Typ" is another fav. Krautwerk's "VI" is another worthy addition. Carpet's "We'll Start by Helping Kids Cross the Road" is a great track to kick-off the set. All tracks are more modern but still retain the classic motorik touch. Enjoy!
Note: Tracks 2 thru 6 rearranged from original mix.

A hodge-podge of sorts. A lot of familiar tracks and nary on the rare side, save the extended version of the Dream Academy's "Life in a Northern Town." A couple of fifties tracks: Louis Prima's "When It's Sleepy Time Down South" and Charles Mingus' "East Coasting." A couple sixties: Piero Piccioni's "North Pole Penguin" and Jimmy McGriff's "South Wes." A few eighties as well including the Doobie Brothers' "South Bay Strut." 16 tracks in all. Good stuff. Enjoy!

So many awesome oldies. Plenty of rare stuff too. My favs? All 20 of 'em, but if I had to choose just three... Awesome Downtime: More Downtempo, Smooth D&B,... You Name It!
I listen to downtime (chillhop, lofi, downtempo, etc) almost daily. I find relaxing music in all kinds of genres, and not just something you'd only hear in a spa. I have nothing against the latter (I listen to it myself), but I want the comps to be more eclectic. As previously mentioned, I find relaxing music in many genres including certain drum and bass tracks (I label them as melodic or smooth dnb).
Big favs in this collection are Keeno's "Hold Ya," Weathertunes' "Passion," Empty Spools' "Always the Best Way to Learn," Fausto Trusso Sfrazzetto's "Nascere," and probably my top fav - Nine Inch Nails' "13 Ghosts II." Yes, that NIN band but no worries, it's not an industrial or noisy track. I first heard the track in one of my all-time favorite films, 2014's "The Raid 2" aka Serbuan maut 2: Berandal.
16 tracks in all. Enjoy!

Awesome Canadian Music You Should Check Out
More Canadian = good! All 70s except Soho 69's Kiss My Boots from '93, Eye Eye's Out on a Limb & Toronto's Girls Night Out, both from the '80s. Favs? Big, BIG fan of Klaatu's Sub-Rosa Subway and Stonebolt's Don't Ya Hide It (please note: the latter is the remake version recorded about a decade later and imo, and very very rare for this to happen, but the better version). Triumph's epic "Blinding Light Show" off their debut and still one of the best (imo). Lots of goodies. Over an hours' worth. Enjoy!
